Thanks for all the help and suggestions on this site! I pulled off one medium and crush and strained it. I got friends to help and it was sure a lot of fun. The honey is very light in color and delicious.

I know the bee's have been hitting milkweed, thistle, linden for this batch. So, I guess these produce a nice, light colored honey. My second super will be more clover and some thistle, so it will be interesting to see the color difference.

How much did you get from that whole box?

Mike
I helped him harvest. He had 12 frames to harvest. They were not all in the same box. My guess is that he got arounnd 40 lbs of honey from 12 frames. Crush and strain.

FWIW, it was the lightest honey I've ever seen. I don't thing the pictures do it justice. The large jar has a label blocking most of the light. MAN that honey was light!

I got 38 pounds of honey from 12 frames. I also got 1.5 lbs of wax.

I have another super on the hive that I will harvest in about two weeks. It will be interesting to see if the honey is any darker.
