First time cut-out

My wife and I, went Friday to do our first cut-out at a friends house. A wild swarm had taken up residence inside the gable end of their house. I had ordered a Bushkill Beevac and it arrived that morning. We loaded up and set out, nervous but excited. We had experienced 3 days of cold weather during the 6 days they had been there, so as I removed part of the facer board I realized they had only built 2 pieces of comb about 10 to 12 inches long. They were very docile as it was a cool morning and I couldn't have asked for our first one to have been more pleasant. The beevac worked like a charm being in a very confined spot. I spotted the Queen just as she went up the tube LOL. They are resting in their new home at our place and seem to be doing great. Thanks again to our mentor Squarepeg and all of you guys for your help, we are having a great time with this!!

Glad it went well with the retrieval of the Bee's. A Bee Vac seems to demoralize the bee's, or maybe it disperses the Pheromone of the Queen and it also makes it a LOT easier to move them into a better place for the Bee's. Keep on having FUN with the Bee's.
Thank you, as tight of quarters as I was in I don't think I could have gotten them by hand, LOL

I appreciate it, I have already been contacted by 3 more people locally, 1 in the gable end of a house, 1 in a wall, and 1 in a bulldozer engine compartment, so looks like I'll be busy for a while!!

Good job FRB, bet you had a really good time. The vac is a great tool to get the population down while working. I did a cut out today, had 2 friends help me. Good times. Goes quick with help , I`ll cut the comb, and hand it off, cut another. I made a vac that you set a hive body on, when I get home I set that box on top of the brood framed box. Gotta love it,,,,,,,Pete,,N3SKI.........PS, watch JP the beeman on youtube he`s great.
