I had a bad year last year all around. I started trying to catch a swarm last year just for the heck of it. I have done everything else, just never needed more bees untill this year. This year is off to a good start! I built a box about the size of a deep, accept It would be like a deep turned sideways or a double deep nuc. There are five frames across the top and empty space below in case a large swarm comes in. Bees would fly around it and that was it, I had a hole about a half inch size. seemed like they could not find the opening, they would try to get in a little gap around the top. I drilled the hole bigger about an inch and a couple days later they started going in steadily. I thought it might be my hives looking for something to rob, I tapped it at dusk and nothing. I looked out of curiosity today it has five frames of bees and some capped honey. I will try to post pictures of the trap but I never had good look at that in the past.
