I recently finished a beekeeping class and am looking to start my first hive up. I found a nuc locally, but was wondering if I should start it now or wait until next spring to start. Currently, its a few days before august and I'm worried that its to late in the year to try to establish them before winter sets in.

I live in TN, if that helps determine. The seller of the nuc is local and has assured me that they have enough time to prepare for winter. I'm looking for confirmation that is right. If they can be established now, what do I need to do to make sure they are prepared for winter?

Thanks for the help.
