It finally got cool enough here in East Tennessee to put Formic Pro strips in my hives. I put them on Saturday. I had to switch bottom boards on one hive. I took off the screened bottom board and put on a solid one. The bees seemed to take exception to the swap. I was wearing dish washing gloves because of the Formic Acid and one got me through the gloves in my palm.
Otherwise it went pretty smoothly.
The bees started gathering on the outside of the box almost immediately. And we're bearding pretty good. This morning, however they were back to normal and working like crazy.
I have one hive I will be loosing unless I am mistaken. It is very weak and I am even thinking about dumping them before wax moths take over the hive. If I am loosing them anyway I could at least save the drawn comb.
