Hi all, my mentor suggested feeding a newly installed new 1:2 sugar:water. Yes, I’m sure he said sugar:water, not the reverse.

He’s been beekeeping for 25+ years, so I trust him, but I can’t find anything about this online. Is it to induce laying?

Thanks, all!

The mixture mimics natural nectar's sugar content, ranging from 10% to 20%. Feeding them that mixture will stimulate brood production & minimizes any chance that they will store it.
