my hive is two weeks old and started from a local beekeepers nuc. nice laying queen, brood and comb. i am using all medium 8 frame boxes. because my nuc was a late start i am feeding sugar syrup with hbh using a hive top feeder with screen cover. my girls ate half a pollen patty in a week and have filled more comb with syrup and capped brood. here's the rub, when i inspected the top feeder yesterday there were many dead bees on top of the screen, should i reduce access with a regular cover with screen stapled over the hole and create a smaller entrance with my reducers? we're in a drought and the local gals (haven't seen many this year in my neighborhood) may be getting aggressive since my hive smells yummy.

thanks
