Yes, why not. Bees adapt to most conditions.
Just check once in awhile for fluid levels.
As far as the ants, try using some "Queen Ann's Lace" wild carrots to deter them. Clippings from them could be placed where ever the ants are. Even plant some seeds around the hives.
