In the ABJ for May and June 2009 there was an article by Larry Connor about Miksa honey farms. It was mentioned that various additives are made to the feed given to the colonies. Ingredients such as lemon juice, cinnamon, coconut milk...

Any ideas about why and when these are used would be interesting as no further information as given.

best additive to put in your feed is honey b healthy all the guess work is taken out.

I did use HBH until I was told about Cider vinegar. I use i pt cider vinegar for each gallon syrup. The bees take more syrup with this mixrure than of the same syrup and HBH.I put a quart of each on a hive with a Boardman feeder and they took twice as much syrup with the cider syrup.The cider is a lot cheaper than HBH.Test it your self with a boardman feeder

I use ESSENTIAL-B from Jester Bee Company. My bees love it. Less expensive than HBH last time I checked.
