I have seen, in several hives, workers with odd "growths" on their lower legs. They are tear drop shaped, very thin/membranous, yellow to orange, and about 2mm long. Some bees only have a couple but others have half a dozen growing from each foot. Remainder of the bee looks normal. I wish I could figure out how to post a picture but I haven't had much luck with my attempts. Anyone know about this condition from what I've described?

Could it be their pollen sacks?
I have seen bees with very small amounts to what looks like basketballs.
