Hi all. I'm finishing up my season with 20 hives. Of course, there's a range of strength throughout the hives. For example, three that survived a bear attack are small and I will be adding resources from some other hives to get them through the winter. Other hives that are mid-strength I'll rearrange a bit into 4-over-4 nucs. Some of those hives will contribute resources to weaker hives, and I feel I have plan for them.

My question is the remaining strong hives--seven of them. What's best practice? Should they be reduced and equalized along with all the hives? Or should I keep them big and strong going in to winter and in preparation for next spring? I can see advantages to both ways, but not sure which would really be best.

Thanks.
