I have 2 hives (new this year from spring packages). One hive is booming and I just added the 4th medium box today (running all mediums). The other hive is progressing, but not as quickly. It still has 4 or 5 frames to go in the third box.

My question is ... is this a problem? Should I try and equalize the hives at all (i.e. move frames/bees from the strong hive) ... or just leave 'em alone?

I would leave them alone and allow more time for comparison. See how they winter and, absent a drastic development in the mean time, consider making increases or multiplying queens from the stronger hive next year. Others would do differently.
