Is it normal to have an empty queen cell in a 2 1/2 week old package install? Inspected yesterday and there are plenty of capped brood cells and honey cells. Just curious.
Can happen. Bees will often build "queen cups", the beginnings of a queen cell, and not use them but they just sit there so maybe one day the bees can use them.
For clarity and lack of miscommunication, we call an empty one a cup, not a cell, and one with a larvae in it a cell, not a cup. It is normal to have queen cups all the time. They mean nothing.
