Hello -- I have an observation hive which has been doing great up until last week. It was vibrant and full of brood and bees. Then I noticed the hive wasn't as full...At the entrance outside there were some bees, a dozen or so staggering on the ground. The yellow jackets were eating them up. There aren't any YJ's in the hive. Their wings aren't K-ed or deformed, they actually look fine except they are dying. I don't see anything obvious in the hive?
Any thoughts would be appreciated... :s

Hi,
Its possible the bulk of the bees, either swarmed, or absconded. Don't have any advise for you.

Do you have any fighting going on between the yellow jackets and the bees outside the hive? Is it possible that the dying bees lost the fight and were being finished off? It's getting close to that time of year....
