Drought Trigger Clear as Day
When I was a kid we never had drought after drought. Then we started with daylight saving. We started with a little bit, but now we have six months of the year daylight saving. It has just become too much for the environment to cope with. It is so logical, for six months of the year we have an extra hour each day of that hot afternoon sun. I read somewhere that scientific studies had shown there is a lot less moisture in the atmosphere which means we get less rain. I believe this one hour extra sun is slowly evaporating all the moisture out of everything. Why can't the Government get the CSIRO to do studies on this, or better still, get rid of daylight savings. They have to do something before it is too late. ----- Chris Hill, Albury

Well, that piece you linked seems to be from Australia* ..... everyone knows they are all (at least) upside-down:eek: there. Could be that it is actually backwards as well. :D

I can't see that daylight savings makes the hot afternoon any longer. The cycle from day to night and changes in day light hours changes regardless of what time we randomly call it.

then how about giving us your 1 hr to add to our 1hr, upstate ny is a floating swamp, I still have yards I can't drive into, I need the extra drying, or a pipe line to Ca. to send all this extra water.

I'm guessing that some of us just ain't got no sense of humor. I thought it was quite funny, but maybe I'm on the shallow side.

Ray May be on to something here. What we need, though, is a study. Perhaps Dr. Lu, or better yet Dr. Lou.

Jim,

Do you think an extra hour of daylight will be enough to shed some light on this matter? Maybe daylight savings time should be extended for a couple of hours per day until the study is completed??

I had a dear friend who has passed away who swore that the reason the US was in a recession in the mid-70's was because the speed limit dropped to 55. He said it slowed everything down, not just traffic. I think he'd be on board with the DST theory... :)
