Instead of placing a drone comb frame in a deep box, would it work to place a medium frame in?
My hypothesis is that the bees would build a couple of inches of free drone comb in the missing 2.5 inch gap. This could simply be cut off whenever the hive was opened - eliminating the need for messing around with those green frames. Has anyone tried this? Adrian.
