Did a hive inspection today
Every brood frame had mounds of drone brood at the bottom of the frames.
every frame I took out ripped it all apart.
I still have my hives at 2 deep brood chambers.
plan on letting Queen lay in both boxes for another week or so and then putting her down in bottom box and adding Queen excluder. Then taking the top box off as a split.
My question is.
instead of making a mess all the time with ripping drone brood apart. Should I get a green drone frame. Will she still lay drone brood at the bottoms.

Why buy a drone frame? What I do is give them a foundationless frame.

I used to have the same problem until began dropping in one foundationless frame per brood box. The green drone brood frames are fine, but foundationless frames work too.

Last year I put in one or two medium frames in my deep brood boxes. The bees tended to build drone comb off the bottoms, and it was very simple cut it off and return the frames, easily avoiding damaging worker brood. I was attempting to do drone culling to limit varroa reproduction.
