A thought just occurred to me, and I'm not sure I've run across this bit of information yet ... when capped brood starts emerging, and there is a spattering of empty cells throughout a frame of brood, does the queen start laying in those cells again, right away? Or does she prefer "fresh" cells?

Those cells are the ones that the queen loves the best. She is drawn to those cells as they tend to be darker and more stable.

As soon as the cells are cleaned and polished and she finds them, she lays in them. Queens are amazingly mobile on the frames.
