Hi:

I'm feeding 2 to 1 sugar syrup and they are really taking it. Are they eating it or converting it to honey for future use? Do they actually eat or feed sugar syrup? My hives are heavy and there appears to be a lot of bees dispite the long spell of cold bad weather we have been having.
Thanks
Barney

if your hives are heavy you might want to think twice about feeding them.
if they plug up the broodnest with all that syrup they think they are overcrowded and this encourages swarming.
the queen needs room to lay in the spring
