It is great fun to point a thermal imager at bees or a hive. I can generally spot the brood nest frames quickly. Bees warm their flight muscles before flight and their thorax is as warm as we are. "Bee Rockets" are fun to photograph. Bees kill intruders by "balling", raising their body temperatures to lethal levels.
