I am building my first hive bodies and supers. The plans on beesource say that you can use 1X12 boards for the deep body, but do I need to rip the boards to 9 5/8 or will the bees tolerate the actual depth of 11 1/4 inches.
More specifically, the bees will propylis any opening smaller than like a 1/4 inch and will fill with wax comb anything bigger than like 3/8th of an inch. So if you left them at 11 1/4 you would have either a mess above or below frames of extra comb. Follow the sizing guidelines and you will have less trouble. GOod luck in your beekeeping journey. :applause:
