I just did a 1st inspection/peek yesterday evening and the hive ( left picture above) has drawn out some palm to hand sized comb on at least 4 bars compared to the other hives 1 comb , I didnt pull all the bars but lifted 1 corner and peeked in 1 near the front a couple in middle and 1 in back to get some idea of the progress. I'm going to have to refill the jar feeder tomorrow on the busy hive.

Have you noted that duct tape is notoriously difficult for bees to cling to. What's up with that?

The duct tape is to hold the screen I'm using as entrance reducer without causing a ventilation problem. The screen is folded down over the face of the hive so they tend to hang on to it but I have seem them on the tape too_One thing Im not clear on is how long to leave the entrance reduced on them , I guess it depends on the population of the hive, I think I need to give the busy hive a larger slot based on there are always more bees gathered around the entrance slot compared to the other hive
