do honey bees frequent these trees?

I was just wondering because this morning as I was leaving, I walked under one at my house and all I heard was a loud BUZZZZZ...I looked up thinking "my girls sure are up early working this tree over" only to look up and only see 100's ob bumble bees...

and, If they like the crape myrtles, are the bumble bees keeping them away?

Yes they work it a lot. Pollen. Can't tell if they also collect nectar.

I've read they work some of the old fashioned white varieties in the mornings for pollen, but not most of the other ones.

Not sure but the last I remember there were honey bees, wasps, and all kinds of different small bees even yellow jackets. Don’t remember if there were bb’s or not. They were on white, dark and light pink and purple. I have seen honey bees and bb’s on my blue berries at the same time. Did not seem to bee a problem.

Bumble Bees won't prevent honey bees from working a source. I have several Vitex Negundos and both bumbles and honey bees work them heavily along with wasps and tiny bees of all sorts. I do see some honey bees on the Crepe Myrtles but not nearly as many as on the Vitex.
