biting/scratching the wood
Maybe chewing on the popcicle sticks...Anybody want to venture a guess as to why? It started when I vented the top inner cover with popsicle sticks. It is loud enough that I would have heard it if the top was not vented. Maybe they are trying to make the vented opening larger?
No, it is bees. It is a lot of individual sounds all at once from more than one hive. Sounds like popcorn but at a quicker rate. I would upload the sound file I have, but can't figure out how to do it.Mice?
I dont know, but thats an interesting theory. I have heard the same, and interestingly enough, it was in a new super with undrawn frames, I will check it tonight Hope thats what it is. Love to think they are building. GI asked the same question a couple of months ago and the responses I got were that the bees crackle when they are working the wax. And, I tend to believe that because the hive that was crackling was a swarm going crazy building comb. They were draped and hanging off the frames by the thousands.
