Comb treatments

3623 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Kingfisher Apiaries
I have heard bits and pieces on beesource and on some older bee videos by brushy mountain about comb treatments. They supposedly let you put comb in swarm boxes etc. without the wax moths eating them. What are these treatments and where can I get them? Are they safe for the bees?
Thanks

Comb can be treated when it is off the hive with paradichlorbenzene PDB moth crystals and aired before putting on the hive. Keeping combs frozen is great if you have that much freezer space. Plastic foundation is impermeable to moths, but they will go through the beeswax.
Is this organic? Is it save to use on combs in honey supers?
