Eleven days ago I picked up a Nuc and put them in a new 8 frame Deep and started feeding them syrup.
Yesterday when I checked them they had 5 1/2 frames filled out so I decided to add (2) new 8 frame mediums.

It's cold, damp and breezy here today. 57F

When I walked out to see what was going on about a 1/2 hour ago I didn't expect to see so many outside on the front like this. Are they trying to block cold air from drafting inside? Did I add boxes too soon?
I went and looked at some other hives and didn't notice as many out like on mine.

Thanks

I would take one Medium off and put on an entrance reducer.

But I am also new to this so take that with a grain of salt.

Good advice so far - add an entrance reducer and remove the medium supers. It doesn't sound to me like the bees were ready for 1 let alone 2 additional boxes. Putting boxes on too soon really slows things down - I wait until I'm sure the bees need the extra space.

Thanks, Yea I was getting ahead of myself.... removed one of the boxes and reduced the entrance. I think I'm gonna let them go a couple of weeks before opening the hive again.
