At least it has some wax on it that way!
The last box I got had a skimpy band sprayed down the middle only, bees didn't like it.
I am going to scrape some capping wax on the plastic and hit it with propane?
If that fails will boil water/wax and dip the sheets.
Any one have another bullet proof method?
I dip my plastic foundation in 3:1 sugar syrup frame and all. right be for I place it the hive it forces the girls to clean it up and they start to leak wax out their bodies. it helps if they are coated with wax first and syrup dipping just adds to them drawing it out.
Great idea, if sugar coated, they should love it.
I have seen a picture (somewhere on the net) where they had rewaxed the foundation in a irregular fashion as a test.
The bees followed the pattern that was rewaxed, just like a paint brush.
Maybe the fresh wax?
The sugar coating sure can't hurt, cheap insurance.
Buy a cheap crockpot at wal-mart, or buy your wife a nice new one and use her old one , and melt your wax cappings. Use cheap 4" foam paint brush, also from wal-mart, to paint on coat of wax. Bees take to it really well.
P.S. Has anyone else ever looked at their checkbook and noticed that at least ever other check goes to wal-mart.
