I'm a new beekeeper in the south suburbs of Chicago. My first package should arrive this week or next week. I upcycled a top bar hive out of shipping container wood. I will have a second hive from a shook swarm sometime between the middle and end of May from a local beekeeper. I'm definitely scared that my first experience with bees is installing a package, but I'm hoping for the best.

Welcome to Beesource!

Installing a package into a top bar hive is the simplest way to get bees into a TBH, and most TBH owners have to go through it. Finding a TBH 'nuc' to fit a specific TBH dimensions is quite unusual.

Ive done 3 packages into TBH's. It went well each time. Starting building comb right away. Def neat to watch it grow.
