....and the girls were flying out with purpose, returning laden with pollen! We've had some weird weather hereabouts, but they're taking advantage of the warm spell to work the fields and streams. It was encouraging to see them busy!
10 hives in fall, double 8 frame deeps...
Lifted lids yesterday.
2 died out... varroa and lack of stores...
The remaining 8 vary from 2 frames bees to 6 frames bees.
I'm expecting maybe 2 or 3 more die-outs maybe.... Varroa signs and light-wieght, but flying when clear which is not often enough.
Within another month, will find a clear day @60F or above and take honey frames from any die-outs and give to remaining live hives. Will condense down to single deeps on the weakest remaining hives and the fun of the season will begin!
