I’ve read about honey bee genetics on various websites and I’ve watched bee genetic videos on YouTube... for the most part I’d like to think I understand it.. but one question has always remained unanswered for me. Hopefully this thread will clear it up. I’m interested in grafting from my caucasians this spring and I was curious if the daughters from said Caucasian’s would be endowed with the longer proboscis? What psychical traits are recessive when grafted??

Nick:

I don't think you are going to get a definitive response on this. I certainly don't have one. I will point you to this recent thread though: Genetic inheritance question?.

Unless you are using II to control your breeding, I think it is a very difficult road to make a designer bee. Too many randy boys out there from the wrong side of the tracks.

To begin with - recessive traits (related to phenotup/genotype of a specimen) and grafting (method of artificial egg selection) are not related.
So then how one should answer this question?

I was curious if the daughters from said Caucasian’s would be endowed with the longer proboscis?
Some maybe will.
Some maybe won't.
Depends on each and every egg/sperm random combination.

These are my non-expert answers.
