I opened up my newly installed package bees today to find BIG carpenter ants on the inner and outer cover. I sprayed the inner cover with listerine and went on checking the hive I didn't see any on the comb yet but I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas on how to get rid of them. :scratch:

Yep, just check under the lid the next few days, take your hive tool and smash as many as you can if you find more there. They will stop returning after doing this a few times.

Believe it or not but i was told to use ground cinnamin around the hive. I sprinkled a whole 3oz bottle around my hive and 3 days later the problem was gone.

I noticed that on the other posts I am going to get some cinnamon and put it out today. Thanks for the reply.
