about 8-10 days ago, I created two very large 5 Frame Nucs from a very powerful hive.

I carried them from my one beeyard and placed them into my backyard.

Well both nucs created queen cells and they were separated for the past 8-10 days.

So, I then was able to create 5 nucs from these two nucs by giving them 2 frames of bees and I penned them up overnight. Well, there must have been raging battles going on as I saw injured bees doing their best to get away to only have them die outside of the Nuc.

Since both nucs were queenless, I am surmising that they must have a "nest scent for them to fight their siblings.

If you smoked them before you put them together you could have avoided the fighting. Any bees in a group know bees "not from the group". If they are field bees they tend to fight. The more mixed up they are (more then two sources) the better. The more confusion (shaken in etc.) the better. Some smoke though, smooths things over well.
