Or, more accurately, can bees distinguish large letters on the front of a hive box?

The BeeCam is now on auto-rotate:

to view all of my 10 current hives, but due to some of these being newly hived swarms, I do some combining, etc, and I have a hard time remembering which hive is which on the camera, unless I wait for it to start over at 1 and then count as it rotates.

So I was thinking of sticking some letters on the front of the landing board and/or the front of the bottom box.

That's primarily for my benefit, but I was wondering if it would help the bees reduce drift as well. Can bees recognize things like letters? How big would they have to bee in order for bees to distinguish them?

Good one Greeny. Waterbug, I have read that they do orient to colors, shapes, symbols. So yes, it appears that it might help with drift. As to how big, no idea. J
