Makes sense, when I opened it up, I expected a 1000 bees to rush out, I saw maybe 5 and they just stayed there, I saw a few doing orientation flights later on, not many. What you got was a mating nuc. A couple of frames of brood and a virgin queen two weeks ago. Queen returned mated, started to lay, and the lid got screwed down. The little bit of capped brood in that " nuc" was not hers. I also bet that most of the bees in there are young. One reason they were so calm.
Thanks, I still have empty boxes to fill, once the flow is over I'll graft and split.Brian I have to say it's impressive how much you have grown your apiary. :applause:
I dont know what that video was, but the one that shows the 2 nucs side by side was one of your best videos that stood out to me.I got a nuc as a present, it's not hitting on much, it's hard to tell if a nuc is any good till you get it home.
What do ya'll think? I think it's on the weak side and should have never been sold yet.
