Checked out several of my hives today in sw Ohio and was surprised to see a fair amount of capped brood - meaning they were tending open brood during the cold snap that dropped nighttime temperatures into the single digits and even to 0F/single digit negative numbers. They continue to amaze me.
Maples are in bloom - I understand that's a major nectar source, and we have a week of forecast flying temperatures ahead. One hive is already making wax - seems early to me.
What is anyone else in the Tri-state/ sw Ohio noticing?
