How long of brood barke do you want for mite control?

I was wondering if the time it takes to release the Queen is long enough or what time frame I am looking at. Looking to over winter bee in a 4 over 4 configuretion next year. Sounds like there is good success in overwintering nucs.

I think ideal length of brood break would be 21-24 days with no new eggs.

Males die in the cell but females can live several months without brood feeding on adult bees. That is why it is difficult to kill them off.
