Last spring when I was putting my frames together, I ran out of split pins to hold the foundation sides. I used my wife's bobby pins to finish up the remaining frames. They fit perfectly and extend further across the foundation. They tend to bend outwards so you have to crimp them a little so they bend back in towards the foundation.

Anyway, they worked out great! The bees didn;t seem to mind and the frames are nice and sturdy. Thinks I'll use this again in the future.

I've seen this in the past when I purchased some equipment from another. Never tried it myself but looks like it works great. And you can always use the curlers as queen cages since the missus won't have the pins anymore.

""FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY EVERY TIME I TOUCH SOMETHING OF MY WIFES IT TRIGGERS AN INSTANT NEED FOR THAT ITEM. I HAVE'NT FIGURED OUT THIS PHENOMINON YET BUT IT DRIVES ME CRAZY.""

In that case, better not use the checkbook or car keys to to hold foundation...
