I got a swarm call in late June, captured it, hived it and fed it and it is now thriving. Yesterday I went for a look in the brood box for the first time and when I pulled an upper frame, bridge comb full of drone brood ripped open and there I was... staring at white larvae covered in mites. (3 or 4) on some. I had been spared the mite infestation for two years and had clear hives. What is the likelihood my other two hives are now infested.

Lamenting the end of a good run.....

Pretty good, I would think. I simply assume all my colonies have mites to one degree or another.

Steven
