I convinced a swarm to move into a "bait deep" Sunday. :) I notice that some beeks say they move the box to its new locale after nightfall. I've moved a couple at pre-dawn (in dim/gray morning) and didn't see anything negative.

So I'm wondering: does it make any difference? I was thinking that there'd be fewer foragers out at 6:30 a.m. than at 7:30-8 p.m. Fewer to come back and be confused/lost.

Any opinions/thoughts/data on this? Thx for feedback ....

I screen mine up in the morning while still dark. I move them as soon after as possible.
PS Congratulations.

It's just a matter of preference really. If u.s got a swarm in a box, you get it to your yard soon as they are locked into the hive. I do mine either in morning or evening. At dusk is my preference. Good luck

First, unless you know where the swarm came from, the best time to move it is later. You just caught this swarm four days ago. If it is possible to leave it where it is, then wait until it settles in enough for you to be able to determine it is not diseased.
