I recently got 12 carniolan hives in a deep box and was wanting to split them after the next honey flow. Can anybody tell me who the best queen breeders are for NW carniolans? I also heard in a nut shell that managing carniolans is like managing russians, except they are gentle. I heard/read that they may be 3 frames in a box in late february and then in march a week or two later they are a full box of bees and swarming. I have other hives that are russian and italians.

I've had good luck with queens from Honey Run Apiaries. He sells NWC queens but his site says he's booked until June 9.

Strachan Apiaries is another good option.

I checked out Koehnen bees and they looked nice. I liked that they had italian/NWC crosses. Sounds like a good option to try. Has anybody else had any experience with these bees?
