I just bought a truck load of equipment from an old gentleman who is getting out of the business. As we talked he told me about the bees taking the berry juice from his raspberries. He said that they sucked the berries until they turned white then took the juice back to the hive and made honey out of it.

Has anyone else experienced this??

my hives are both located in raspberry fields. I've never seen a honeybee on any mature raspberries. But when there are flowers on the canes, you dont want to walk thru there, the girls are on every flower. soon as the flowers are gone, so are the bees.

Makes me wonder if they were short of water.

Yellow jackets will eat my berries, but I have never had a problem with honey bees.
