Hey everyone any opinions as to why my bees aren't drawing out the foundation in my honey super, the brood chamber is packed with 7 frames full of brood capped but no swarm cells anywhere. Any ideas how to get them drawing, the poplar flow is on here so can't figure out why they aren't expanding, it is wax foundation not plastic too, I have heard that you can put the super under the brood chamber might help???

when that capped brood emerges i'll bet they go to town drawing that super out for you.

Yup the more new bees hatch out, the faster that wax will flow in the box....Ill post some more pictures of new hatchers in couple of days

If your super is the same size as you brood chamber, move a frame up into the super. If the super is smaller, put two supers on and take a deep frame with brood and temporarily move it to the middle position in the supers. Remove the bees if you have an excluder on and they will return to take care of the brood. When the bees have started drawing out the foundation next to the brood as they will, return the deep frame to the brood box and replace the super frames.

If you have an excluder on, remove it until they are working the foundation... or remove it altogether...

They are handy when you are queen rearing or desperate to find a queen. I always have some around...
