Last night I brought in 2 Nucs with screen tops and set them on the back porch. This morning at 6:30 I went out to set them in their new homes (10 frame deeps) I found a lot of external activity it looks like the bees from my other hives have come up to say hi. probably 50 or so were congregated on and flying around the nucs.

I assume this is normal activity? I do have some sugar water feed in the yard for them, and there is almost no activity around the feeder...

If the bees hovering around are not from the nucs themselves, they could be smelling honey/nectar in the nucs and about to rob. Make sure you have an entrance reduced on their new homes to be on the safe side.

The nucs were fully closed off, screened top and closed entrance so no one got robbed this morning.

I set the nuc frames into 10 frame deeps with top feeders and entrance reducers early, and things seem normal.

The feeders I set out in the yard were quite popular with the rest of the crowd by 9 am!
