I have a beekeeping record and managment project I'm currently exploring and would like some feedback from other beekeepers. (I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, so if not, please let the admin move it to a better spot.)
I'm wanting to create an online hive record database project, where a beekeeper can record his/her hive data for the purposes of record keeping and managment tracking.
So often, beekeepers record information on the hive itself, if at all. I'm looking to create a resource that tracks a wide variety of variables - such as hive body components, feeding data, weather and temp records, medication, honey production, etc.
I know something like this can be captured on an Excel file, but I am thinking of an online tool that is easy to work with and can share data for others to view and query. Perhaps this can be a helpful was to share techniques and management practices, (in this day and age where personal communication is at a premium.)
Is there something like this already created? Do you mess with online tools and database creation, (ruby on rails, etc.?) If so, I'd like your feedback.
