Ok that makes sense also. I think it was really hot back then but it is good news that the bees will have survived the heat wave to produce another wave of new ones. I am touchy since last year at this time I lost 2 hives (out of only 3) due to robbing. So no entrance feeders this time out of an abundance of caution.

I think I disagree with the majority. That does not look like orientation to me. This time of year you should have an entrance reducer, with no more than 2" of opening. It will cause some congestion but it will reduce the area that the bees have to defend.

I agree with dsegrest. That may or may not be robbing but it's sure not orientation flights. Orientation flights are a lot more relaxed than that.

needs a smaller opening -----there will be no fighting after the ROBBERS take over a hive --if U were there when the first ROBBERS came U would have seen fighting ---1000 bees can't keep out 5000 bees with out help from a small opening or a ROBBER screen
