I have been searching to find out if the Avocado tree produces honey for the beekeeper. If so what is it like and how much per hive do they gather? Apparently, the pollen has a crude protein content of 24%.
We have a varietal honey store here that sells what they claim to be avocado honey. Whether it is or its not, I can't say, but it is delicious.:applause:
Alot of avocado honey is collected here in San Diego County California. Strong flavor. Dark amber. Some like it. Some don't. Others use it for cooking or making meade.
Avocado has nectar with 7-10% perseitol -- an indigestible 7 carbon sugar. This affects its taste. It is 90% sucrose nectar. Dark amber with a greenish tint. If it can be mixed with sage (they bloom together) the crop is pleasant, alone not so much.
Indigestible to bees, perhaps it would ferment in bee bread. Humans with our diverse gut biota ferment all sorts of carbohydrate alcohols, usually producing some methane in the process.
