Hello!

I have recently inherited my family's small farm due to losing both of my parents in the same year. I would like to start homesteading the property and I have one space in mind that would be perfect for a small apiary.

My initial idea is to build my own boxes and frames and to somehow attract wild bees for conservation and for honey. Is this possible to do?

The couple who stewarded the property 25 years ago did keep bees at some point before we moved onto the land in my childhood.

welcome aboard mc!

it's definitely possible to attract swarms like that. do a search for 'swarm trap'.

the traps won't discriminate between wild-type bees and domestically reared bees. they will attract swarms from nearby colonies regardless of their origin.

either way it's a fun and economical way to get started, good luck!

Welcome Moon Creek,
You might want to look up Lburou with the search engine here. I think he keeps bees in your area and may have gobs of advice for you.
