I got a small amount of grafting gear just to try it out. In that mix were 5 plastic cups with mounts and guards. Looks like the mounts connect to a top bar with 4 tiny nails and the cups snap onto them. It also looks like at some point you could attack the card over/around a queen cell.

I was looking in the bone yard and I have 6 brand new unassembled shallow frames. I thought perhaps I could use one of them to attach them to. I have a abandoned all medium and shallow equipment so it was surprising that I still had these at all.

Anyway is there any problem using a shallow frame in a deep box as a grafting frame?

I use one when I want to finish started cells in a super. If left in a full size box, bees may draw comb under teh bottom bar - hardly an issue.
