Ants on my inner cover

1465 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Michael Palmer
I have what would appear to be a colony of small ants that have taken up residence on the inner cover of one of my hives, anyone have an idea on getting rid of them short of replacing the inner cover?

Thanks

I knock off as many as possible, then dust lightly with cinnamon to drive the remainder away. It has worked very well for me.
I agree with Chemguy...cinnamon will make ants run! It may take more than one application. Cinnamon around the stand helps, too. I get cinnamon from the $1 store for this....not the $5 stuff in the regular supermarket.
I had no idea! I will definatly do that.

Thanks for the info
Cinnamon hasn't worked for me yet . I have put tons around the stands and on the inner cover . Got to be something else .
Prop the outer cover up by placing the front rim on the inner cover, and leave the escape hole open. The bees will keep the ants away.
