My hives sit on two 4x4x8's that rest upon concrete blocks. I do not want to have ant problems. So I cut me some scrap boards of the same thickness 3 in longer and wider than the concrete blocks. I painted the top and sides and spread bearing grease on bottom of the boards. The boards sit grease side down on the concrete blocks under the 4x4x8's. The ants can't get to my hives because of the grease boards that extend past the edges of the concrete blocks. Works great .
